Suture Suspension Defined
Suture Suspension is the procedure that lifts loose skin or flabby soft issue. Traditional lifts required a surgeon to make large, dramatic incisions, but by using several small incisions and long internal sutures, we can now contour and shape the face and body without resorting to invasive and complex surgery. The technique is used for the scarless lifting of the face, buttocks, breasts, chin and abdomen.

The technique involves anchoring to a non-movable fibrous tissue above the muscles (fascia) as well as tendons and ligaments (just above the bone) by using absorbable and or non-absorbable sutures. The technique was mastered and taught by Dr. Nikolay P. Serdev, MD, PhD., of Sophia, Bulgaria.


Suture Suspension: The replacement for traditional facelifts
The Serdev Technique lifts the deep moveable subcutaneous tissue by anchoring it to non-moveable fibrous tissue. Employing this technique results in a more natural and youthful appearance. The Serdev Technique is ideal for lifting the face, chin, eyebrow, buttocks and abdomen.

This technique is much better than typical forms of suture suspension, which are more superficial and do not last as long. Other names for these superficial forms of suture suspension are known as "Curl Lift", "Coffee Break Lift", "Contour Thread Lift", and "Feather Lift". Again, these approaches yield results that do not last as long as procedures done using the the Serdev Technique.

Suture Suspension Procedures offered by CHP

Results are seen after an SSL/SMAS immediately, as seen in our before and after photos. Literally the day after surgery. Because we do not use general anesthesia, you can drive yourself to the office and drive yourself back home.

There have been no reported significant complications reported using the Serdev Suture Suspension technique. This procedure has been in practice since 1996 and has been performed tens of thousands of times.
